Timmy Hill Tames The Lady In Black

After fighting the flu while driving at Talladega not to mention extreme heat and humidity and intense competition, Timmy Hill finally got payback this weekend at Darlington SC. With a track named “The Lady In Black” one mistake can cost you not only a good finish but can cause you to leave with one less race car. Fortunately with the steady hands of Timmy Hill behind the wheel, the #41 Poynt.com car overcame a 30th place qualifying to run solidly in the top 20 all night long at finish 16th on the lead lap.

Timmy Hill

“The car was amazing on long runs. We didn't get going on fresh tires like some of the other cars but middle way through a run we really took off.”, stated Timmy. At one point of the race the #41 Poynt.com car was consistently the 4th to 5th fastest car on the track, logging laps faster than the current leader. “Darlington is a tough race track and passing is even more difficult. We made some great passes that got us into the top 20. If that race would have been 50 laps longer there is no doubt it would have been a top ten night for everyone!”, explained Timmy.

Rick Ware

“As a team we want to thank Poynt.com for being our partner for the year and really standing beside us. They are an amazing company with a great product. We couldn't be more proud than to represent Poynt.com and giving them finishes like Darlington is a great way to show off their brand!”, stated Rick Ware.

The Lady In Black Returns

After extreme heat and record television numbers at Talladega, the Rick Ware Racing Team heads down the road to one of the most famed speedways in NASCAR history, Darlington SC. Named the “Lady in Black” many years ago, Darlington Speedway is known for extreme speed, brutal tire wear and a catch fence that seems to reach out and grab the cars as they pass by within inches each lap.

#15 - Capital Plastic Surgery Car

Returning to the 15 car for RWR this weekend is veteran Blake Koch. After stepping in middle of the way through the race to help ailing Timmy Hill at Talladega, Blake has his sights set on running up front at Darlington. “Last weekend was tough with the rainout but I was really happy to be able to help Timmy when he had the flu. I just want to be a team player and help everyone involved. We picked up a great sponsor with Dr. Gregory Sexton and Capital Plastic Surgery so we are going to Darlington to turn heads and get a top notch finish for the sponsor and the whole team!”, stated Blake.

#41 – Poynt.com Car

Piloting the 41 Poynt.com Car will be reigning Rookie of the Year, Timmy Hill. “I really enjoy Darlington. Being challenged is a good thing and Darlington is definitely a challenge. I love tracks that wear out the tires and make you have to slide the car around a bunch. I grew up sliding cars around and won a bunch of races along the way so hopefully my experience can show through at Darlington with a solid finish!”, explained Timmy.

RWR Goes Short Track Racing at Richmond

Heading into a 6 week in row stretch, the Rick Ware Racing Team is loaded and ready for the second short track race of the year, Richmond VA. This .75 mile track proves to be difficult not only on the drivers but on the crew chiefs as well. With an increasing radius corner on one end and decreasing on the other, not to mention different degrees of banking the entire way around, Richmond requires a certain degree of compromise in the setup and steady hands on the wheel.

“Richmond is a tricky track but a fun one to watch and be involved with. Our entire Poynt.com team is super excited about going short track racing. Timmy grew up racing short tracks and has a great feel for the car so this should be a good weekend for us.”, stated team owner Rick Ware. The team will roll out 3 cars this weekend with the 15 driven by Blake Koch, 41 piloted by Timmy Hill and 75 driven by veteran Scott Riggs.

“I really enjoyed racing at Richmond last year and we showed a lot of speed out there. We didn't qualify as well as we should have but come race time we were a top 10 car with no question. Rick and the Poynt.com guys really give me a car I can save brakes and tires with while moving forward in traffic. That is a hard thing to do at a track like this but these guys are really good!”, stated driver Timmy Hill.

Look for all of the action this Friday night on ESPN2 as the Nationwide Series conquers Richmond under the lights!

Texas Nationwide Post Race Recap

After a well needed rest and 2 weeks off, the Rick Ware Racing Team headed to Texas Motor Speedway with 2 well prepared cars and a eye on the ultimate prize. Unfortunately luck would not be on their side this go around. Early on their team was tested with a broken shock and cut tire in the first practice for the #15 Poynt.com car driven by Timmy Hill. “Timmy did an amazing job keeping the car out of the wall and minimizing the damage. These cars are close to 170 mph in the middle of the corner where the failure occurred so I honestly don't know how he didn't wreck. We are very fortunate to have Timmy behind the wheel and keeping the 15 out of trouble.”, stated Rick Ware.

The remainder of practice would be uneventful along with qualifying but there would be no rest for this team during the main event at Texas Motor Speedway. Early in the race Timmy ran over debris in the racetrack and cut another tire, forcing the team to make repairs under green and causing the Poynt.com car to go multiple laps down. The #41 car driven by Blake Koch stayed out of trouble and ran super competitive times while working his way into the top 15. However, during a restart, Cup Champion Kurt Busch hit Blake Koch in the left rear sending his car into the inside fence and ending his night.

The team will focus on fixing damage from Texas and preparing for next race on the schedule, the tricky .75 mile Richmond International Raceway race. Stay tuned for more action and behind the scenes action!

Well Rested Poynt.com Race Team Heads to Texas Motor Speedway

Spring has sprung, the Rick Ware Racing team has rested, and now it is time to get back to what they do best...Racing! Fresh off a restful and needed two week break, the RWR team heads to Texas Motor Speedway with improved cars and a renewed focus on the task at hand. Timmy Hill enters Texas in the Nationwide Series for this race and the remainder of the year. He is fresh off an extremely impressive 7th in his last Nationwide Start and is the reigning Rookie of the Year in the series. Timmy will pilot the #41 Poynt.com Ford and has his eyes set on a solid top 10 finish. Blake Koch will team with Timmy in the 2nd RWR entry for Texas Motor Speedway. Blake had an interesting couple of weeks away from competition. He made a major splash with his appearance on the national television show Fox and Friends in the morning, bringing light to the fact that his NASCAR sponsorship had been slightly derailed by TV advertising executives. Blake looks to put all of that behind him and contend for a win on the tricky and super fast Texas track. Look for great things Friday night on the 1.5 mile track from Rick Ware Racing and the entire Poynt.com team.

Poynt.com Racing Heads to Barber Motorsports Park

Fresh off his 2012 Nationwide debut and a strong run at Bristol, Jeffrey Earnhardt heads to Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama for the 2nd race in this years Grand Am schedule. The Rick Ware Racing Team will run the familiar #15 Ford Mustang that made it's debut at Daytona for the 24 Hours of Rolex season opener. With season long sponsorship from Poynt.com the team is fully focused on gaining championship points while searching for their first podium of the year. “Jeffrey is a great road racer and we are excited to have him focused on the Grand Am schedule for the time being. He has the talent to drive up front and we were able to work out the kinks on this Ford Mustang during the tests and race at Daytona. This should be a breakout race for the team and for all of the drivers.”, stated Rick Ware. Chris Cook will again be behind the wheel as co-pilot, bringing a vast knowledge of road course racing along with coach qualities. “Chris is not only a go to guy when it comes to road racing but he has also taught and mentored some of the best NASCAR drivers in their search for road course wins. Having him as a driver is exciting enough but to have him mentor Jeffrey as well is really awesome. I can't wait to see how they run the remainder of the season!”, stated Rick Ware.
